Kinkakuji(金閣寺)

Kinkakuji(金閣寺), also called the golden pavilion, is a zen temple in Kyoto.

It was first constructed in 1397 as the retirement villa of the Shogun Ashikaga Yosimitsu(将軍 足利義満). But it has burned down few times and the present structure was rebuilt in 1955.

Top two floors are covered in gold leaf as you can see the picture.
It's very beautiful, isn't it?

Nowadays it's one of the most popular tourist attractions in Japan.
Also it is designated as a National Special Historic Site and a National Special Landscape and it's one of 17 locations comprising the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto Wold Heritage Site.

You must see this beautiful temple!!
Also i recommend you to go there in winter.
